Belize, November 12, 2010

There is a simple rule of thought in Central America, the further south you go, the worse the driving gets.   Yea, Belize is no exception.  I got to drive today, and thanks to driving for 22 years in Mexico I survived!!
Yesterday we went to Belmopan.  The Pastor we drove with suffers from night vision problems.    Every time a car would come with the lights on from the other direction, the Pastor would almost pull his car off the road onto the shoulder at 60 miles per hour.  I still thought that was safer than when the cars on the other side didn’t have their lights on!!   OH, Glory Halleluiah!  It really got interesting when we drove past the crocodile reserve!!
After an hour or so of high adrenalin driving we arrived in Belmopan.  Three small churches had gathered together.  They were excited that we had come from far away to share with them the love of Jesus.  Pastor Mario led the worship and praise.  He has a heart of a worshipper, and simply enjoyed being with God’s people and having the opportunity to help us worship God.  The drummer was barefoot, the vocalists were excited.  The Caribbean rhythm permeated everything.  Everyone was dancing and swaying and worshipping, lost in the praises of God.
Then they asked me to share with them.  I shared with them about how Moses prayed for Joshua, and when Moses lifted his hands, Joshua prevailed.  But when Moses dropped his hands, the Amalekites prevailed.  Aaron and Hur had to help Moses pray.  All of us in God’s Kingdom work together with each other to prevail.  Belize is part of God’s plan for worldwide evangelism.  Belize has people from all over the world.  Two days ago we ate at a restaurant.  The hostess was from Guatemala, the waitress from
the Czech Republic, and the Chef from Italy!!  You hear 12 languages in a single day.  The churches here lack discipleship and depth of ministry and growth.  Please pray for us in these last few days that we can be a blessing to the churches here and serve them.
Tonight 6 churches will be meeting in one of the city parks in Belize City.  Please pray for us that we can share the love of Jesus with the city tonight.
Thank you so much for your prayers.  I have slept well every night, and we have not had even the slightest hint of danger or violence.  Praise the Lord for his goodness.

MI HAPPI FU DE INNA BELIZE WIT UNU.

Belizian Creole:  I am happy to be in Belize with Everyone!!

This is the first phrase I learned in Creole!

Today we had lunch with Pastor Rick's older daughters.  Please keep Sasha and Shamim in prayer for a closer spiritual walk and a life of commitment to God.  In the Bible, John the Apostle wrote that he had no greater joy than that his children walk in the truth.  Let us pray for these two young ladies that they also bring great joy to their father as they choose to walk in the truth, too.
Tomorrow we will have an opportunity to speak with some influential pastors in Belize.  Belize suffers greatly from a severe lack of discipleship.  Let me give you an example.  Zoe Christian Church started here and quickly grew to over 500 people in a very short time.  The pastor suffered a heart attack, and within a few short weeks, it was down to 15 people.  There was no depth, no commitment, no discipleship. This is a common problem worldwide, but it is very pronounced in Belize.
Please pray for us, that we can impart the vision of strong churches based on the depth of Christian commitment to Christ and not on the numbers of attendees.
I shared last Sunday on the Sirophoenecian Woman’s cry to Jesus, and on her willingness to take from the Lord what he had for her.  Please pray for Belize that the heart of the Christians here would be to cry out to God for what he has for them, and that they would commit themselves to partaking of a Christian life based on total commitment to Christ.
Thank you so much for your prayers.  I appreciate so much everyone praying for me, and I believe this week we will make the important contacts with pastors that God wants us to have to begin praying together for an awakening for Belize.
God’s Richest Blessings,

What a wonderful time in Belize.  You might want to look at some of the new photos on my Facebook page.   On Friday I was able to do some evangelism training.  First I taught about the power of the Word of God and the influence it has on the lives of the people that listen to the Word.  I was able to bring into Belize over 1000 Gospel Tracts put out by World Missionary Press.  I had a tract for children called the Way to God, and another Tract for Adults called The Amazing Life of Jesus Christ
We did some practical training with these tracts, passing them out to each other and practicing what to say to initiate a conversation.  That was a lot of fun as the different members of Abundant Life started to share with each other.
After the training was done, Pastor Rick asked the congregation what we had just accomplished.  Desarey stood up and said, “Pastor Rick, we just received discipleship.  We just became more like disciples of Christ!”  Rick agreed with her, and then she said, “And we are prepared to go and live a lifestyle of sharing the love of Jesus Christ with others!”  Praise the Lord, isn’t God good!?
On Saturday, we went to one of the downtown parks and turned the church loose.  They went out and started sharing and showing the love of God to the neighborhood.  Someone brought along a bunch of sandwiches, and pretty soon most everyone in the park was eating a sandwich and reading a tract about the Amazing Life of Jesus Christ.
Praise the Lord, isn’t it exciting living for God!  Please remember to keep us in prayer as we spend time this week visiting with different Pastors in the City and visiting the neighboring city of Belmeapon, where we will be having two different services and encouraging the church there to live for God’s glory.    We believe that God will use his local churches in Belize to bring a revival here to Belize.
On Sunday I was able to share in Abundant Life Ministries about the need to cry out to God for your city.  That evening a group from the church agreed with God that they would pray and cry out on a regular basis, and work to fill the church with souls hungry for God.  I am so excited about what God is doing in Belize, and am so grateful that you are going to Belize with me in your prayers and offerings.   Thank you so much for the way you have participated, and for the fruit that God is giving unto Eternal Life.

First Post from Belice City

Dear Friends in Christ,
I arrived safely in Belice.  Thanks so much for our prayers.  I took dramamine, and didnt get airsick, but you know that dramamine makes me a little drowzy and I dont think too well after I take it.  So, I almost left my bag ont the plane!!  I grabbed the stewardess's bag by mistake, and was out of the plane walking up the runway when she came running out.  Ha, I went back and got the right bag, and I am sure it was your faithful prayers for me that helped that situation not be a disaster.
Wednesday night I shared in Abundant life church, and we were able to see 4 people make comittments to Christ and 15 more make a re dedication of their lives to the Lord.  We drove around the city and saw the destruction of the recent Hurricane Richard.  That evening I preached on Blind Barameaus, and saw 10 people make a dedicaton of their lives to intimacy with Christ.
Today we met an important contact in Brother Craig, a missionary down here who is dedicated to forming disciples.  We believe that God has a great plan for Belice.  We want to see an awakening and a National revival.  The population of Belice is found mostly in two Cities, Belice and Belmaponte.  We will be meeting with some of the city pastors today in Belice City and later next week in Belmaponte, and trust that the Lord will open doors for us here to disciple, mentor, and train churches and pastors in evangelism and discipleship to lay the foundation for a national revivival.
Tonight I will be teaching on evangelism and disciplesip, and on Saturday we will be going downtown to share the good news of Christ with others in the city.  Please keep us in prayer and I will try to post some pics on another computer.
Thanks again for your prayers.

My Trip to Belize, November 2, 2010

Friends,
Tomorrow is a big day for me as I fly to Houston and then on to Belize.  Thanks so much for your prayers for God’s power and the salvation of souls.  I think it is an exciting testimony to share that more than 150 Christians in Mexico are fasting for this 2 week trip, more than 700 Christians in Mexico are praying, and 50 Churches here in Cuernavaca are participating in prayer for these two weeks.  Also, in the US, there are more than 40 people fasting and 10 churches that have committed to be in prayer for these two weeks.  Wow!!
I think God has started answering us early.  Yesterday Pastor Luis asked me to change my sermon to a salvation message.  (This is fairly common in Mexico, last minute requests like that.)  I agreed.  Pastor Luis told me that he was conducting two baptisms, and there would be quite a few non-Christians present.  After I shared the Word, of God, eight of them prayed to receive the Lordship of Christ and to cling to him for salvation.  Praise the Lord for that.
(On Sunday afternoon, we attended a birthday party that had some delicious pork, and some wicked, truly wicked super spicy hot sauce.  I think God answered your prayers to help me get it down!)
On Monday, I spoke to 27 young people interested in missions.  That afternoon 12 of them made commitments to pursue the call to being a missionary with all of their strength!!  Praise the Lord.  You can see some pics on my Facebook photos under Belize.  I will try to post a note on Facebook and new pics every day, or every other day.
I thought you might be interested in knowing how God is answering some of the prayers that you have lifted to our Father’s Throne Room in an overflow of goodness and kindness to his Church before I leave.  Thank you so much for going with me to Belize on your knees in prayer,
